Your nervous system consists of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of your body.
The spinal cord is covered by 24 moving vertebrae. When these bones lose their normal motion or position, they can irritate the nervous system. This disrupts the function of the tissues or organs these nerves control, and is called subluxation. A subluxation can result in pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, or organ system dysfunction such as high blood pressure or indigestion.
Chiropractic is the science of locating these areas of spinal malfunction, the art of correcting them, and the philosophy of things natural.
What to expect your first visit:
Your first appointment will require you to fill out some brief paperwork
The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition.
After paper work has been completed you will be taken to a private treatment room. There, Dr. Dickinson will ask you various questions related to your condition and a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.
Your specific condition may require that x-rays be taken to either rule out more serious conditions or assist in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.
Once finished with the examination, patients will be provided with their first treatment.
Home Instructions
Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.
